RACE UPDATE AS OF JUNE 28, 2021
PACKET PICK-UP: We will have one early packet pick-up on Saturday, July 3 from 10am-12pm, at FMU Fitness (1022 Jaycox Rd, Avon, OH 44011). Bibs for all participants and race shirts for early bird registrants (through June 13, 2021) will be available. There may be some shirts available for those who registered after June 13, but if not, a second order will be placed and will be available a couple weeks after the event. Parking passes for the lot at Walker Rd Park will also be available for a suggested $5 donation. Please note that there will NOT be a shuttle this year due to the event being on a Sunday when the Holy Spirit parking lot will not be available. New registrations will be accepted, $35 each, via cash or check (made out to Hermes) only. For all kids who are NOT registered for the race, parents will need to sign a Kids' Waiver, which will also be available at PPU.
Race day PPU will be from 7-8:45am. New registrations will also be accepted on race day.
RACE UPDATE AS OF JUNE 1, 2021
COVID RACE UPDATES: With the lifting of some restrictions and per guidelines provided by the City of Avon Lake, we are pressing on with our in-person event on July 4th!! However, in an extra abundance of caution, we will have very minimal kids' activities, a smaller variety of post race food at the finish line, and will not be doing our traditional "food counter" of hot dogs, chips and drinks. We still plan to hold our raffles and auctions, however that set up and tent browsing may have some restrictions.
But, in order to give all participants, especially our kids, something else to participate in, we are for the first time this year, offering the option to time the 1.5 mile distance!! Awards will be given in the following categories (tentative as of now and may be subject to change): 5 and under, 6-10, 11-15, and 16 and up! So, if your kiddos aren't quite ready for the 5K, but want a little longer distance than the 50 and 100yd dashes (which we WILL be doing again this year), start training now for that 1.5 mile distance!!! Adults, you can choose to be timed too if you want to give yourself a challenge.
For both event distances, if you DO NOT want to be timed and are just going out for a fun walk with friends and family, and to support our cause, please be sure to select the non-chip timed "5K walk" or "1.5 mile walk."
Lastly, this will be the LAST Birthday Bash & Dash!! When Sophie's parents, Emily and Marc Quayle, first created SFSF after Sophie passed away, and plans were in progress for the first ever Bash & Dash in 2008, the thoughts were to hold this event until Sophie's 18th birthday. Well, Sophie should be turning 18, and graduating from high school, this 4th of July, so this will be the last race.
We would really love to make Sophie's last birthday celebration through this event a HUGE success, so please register, donate, and share with everyone you know. We will again have our virtual option and like last year, would love to have at least one registrant from every state. So far we are only at 11 states so we NEED you!!!
RACE UPDATE AS OF JANUARY 2021
ATTENTION: We are using RunSignUp for all race registrations and event fundraising! If you have any questions or problems with registration, please do not hesitate to email Sarah.
NEW THIS YEAR: In-person and virtual race registration will be available. For the in-person event, we will have the same options we have had in the past: 5K run (chip timed), 5K run/walk, and 1.5 mile run/walk. For the virtual option, you can choose 5K or 1.5 mile, but it is truly up to you what you do on race day. If we hold the in-person race and you want your race to be timed, please be sure to select the chip timed option. If you do not need your time, please select the non chip-timed option.
As in the past, we have different pricing for ages 11 and up ($30) and 10 and under ($25) through June 13. After June 13, pricing will go up to $35 for all ages.
REGISTRATION AND FUNDRAISING: You can register multiple individuals under one account and they will each have their own individual fundraising page...even all the kids under 18! During registration you can customize your fundraising pages (if you choose to be a fundraiser) and can also create a team fundraising page that all individual pages set up as part of registration will be linked to.
If you do not customize during registration, you will also have the option via the registration and fundraising confirmation emails, to customize your page (which will include goal setting, a message to your potential donors and a picture) and share your fundraising page. You will also be able to access your event(s) and your fundraising page(s) with your RunSignUp login.
As far as the actual fundraising for SFSF for the Bash and Dash, we very much appreciate each and every donation that you solicit on our behalf, however, again this year, any offline donations you collect (checks or cash), will need to be mailed to SFSF so we can enter it on your fundraising page. We promise to respond in a timely fashion once we receive your offline donations, so that your current fundraising total will show up on your page. If you collect cash donations, please use the pledge form and be sure to include it when you send or drop off your donation. Especially if you choose to keep the cash and write your own check. That way we can be sure to list each donor and their amount accordingly.
Offline donations should be mailed to:
32363 Legacy Point Pkwy
Avon Lake, OH 44012
If you have any questions about registration or fundraising, please do not hesitate to email Sarah.
